Villanelle on Happy Valley

- The Death of my Dare -

If time stool still,

And silence screamed in my ear,

I would have called Phil.

I took too long to pay my bill,

then took a short cut without much care.

If time stood still.

Sounds of whistling winds and creatures up the hill,

Day and night do not compare.

I would have called Phil.

A shadowy-figure gave me a chill

That ran down my spine and raised my hair.

If time stood still.

My instincts said he wanted to kill.

The moment soon turned to a nightmare,

I would have called Phil

From my weakness he got a thrill.

Happy Valley was the death of my dare.

If time stood still,

I would have called Phil.

Sonnet on Happy Valley

Times like these -

It’s more apparent in times like these,
